November chapter meeting around the corner

The fall weather is finally starting to hit here in Leavenworth, Kansas, meaning we have more time for model building! The contest season is past, with the last local show being the Ad Astra show in Topeka in early November. That gives us a few months to build before March starts the contest season again.

For those in the Leavenworth area, remember that our December meeting will be a chapter Christmas party at the Gerges’. A flyer is in this month’s newsletter. They’ll provide the drinks, bring a side dish to share, and spouses are highly encouraged to attend. There will be no “Show Wat Ya Brung” but we will do a White Elephant Gift Exchange.

Our Chapter meeting is at the Pilgrim Community Church, 500 Arch Street in Leavenworth on Wednesdays, November 19th at 6:30 p.m. We meet in the basement; come around to the rear (north facing) side of the building to get in.

Chapter meeting is on! 19 February 2025

Hello all, despite the snow over the past two days and now the extreme cold, the monthly chapter meeting for February is on. We’ve pushed the demo back until March in case you don’t want to make the trek out of doors.

The meeting starts at 6:30 pm at the Pilgrim Community church, 500 Arch Street in Leavenworth. We’ll be on the bottom floor, so go around to the north side of the building, lower level, to enter.

Hope to see you there–it’s not THAT cold out!

New Year- snow and cold!

We had our January chapter meeting, and despite the cold temperatures and recent blizzard, had a great turn-out of people. We had two new members show up, and look forward to seeing them each month.

We discussed a proposal from the Ad Astra Modeling Club in Topeka for a joint chapter contest build this year. While the membership was favorable to the idea, the mechanics were still in question. Our VP Bill Barker is reaching out to their president to discuss.

Last item of business was the October 2025 show. Our contest theme this year is “As seen on the little screen” and deals with vehicles, creatures, and people as seen on TV shows.

November Chapter meeting

The monthly meeting for our chapter will be on Wednesday, November 20 at 6:30 pm. We will be at the Pilgrim Community Church on Arch Street in Leavenworth. Come around to the lower-level on the north side.

Why should you attend? You’ll have a chance to meet our own Michael Phelps of model building, Ed Burgess. If that’s not enough, we’ll have our normal “Show What ya’ Brung” and club raffle.
