Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some FAQs about our September contest.  If you cannot find the answer to your question here, add a comment and we’ll send it to the right person for an answer.

Q: What time does registration close? And what time do you anticipate the contest being over?

A: Registration opens at 9:00 am and closes at noon, and the awards ceremony begins at 3:00 p.m. We expect to be emptying the room by 3:30!

Q: Where can I find the contest categories/classes?

A: A complete list of the current categories can be found at 2016 categories.

Q: What’s the price for a vendors table?

A: Vendor’s table are $10 each, but must be reserved in advance so we have enough tables.  Send an email to the contest chair if you’d like to reserve one.

Q: Rule clarification, please. I have a friend who built a model. Could I enter this model into the competition in his name? The model even has a discrete decal of his name on the horizontal stabilizer. Would such an entry be permissible under the rules. I would simply be the delivery vehicle.

A: You can certainly enter a model for a friend who cannot attend.  You’d have to pay the normal registration for them as if they were there in person (ie. you can’t enter it as part of your registration).  Remember– as long as the model in question has never placed in an IPMS sponsored event at a level higher than a local contest, it can be entered at our show.

Q: In some categories, you use TBA.  What does the acronym, “TBA” mean?

A: TBA stands for “to be announced.” These are what we will use if we decide to split our current categories due to the high turn-out of models– if we are lucky! Right now, no one can enter anything into the category unless the head judge decides we need it–it is really just a place holder.  But we made extra award plaques, so we are ready!
