Prison City Model Club

Leavenworth, Kansas

Build a model--get captured!

The Prison City Model Club was founded in July 1995 and is now entering our twelfth year.  Growing from four members that first year, the club now has 15 members who regularly attend meetings and another 20 "e-members," who may not be able to attend but contribute to the club with ideas and receive the newsletter.

Yearly club dues are $20 individual plus an unbuilt model kit, or $25 for a family and an unbuilt kit and are due in January. (note- because of a backlog of kits, the unbuilt kit requirement is waived for the 2008 year).  If you cannot pay, you are still welcome to attend our meetings but cannot vote on club business.

The club tries hard to keep the "admin" part of the meetings to a minimum.  Meetings normally last 1 1/2 to 2 hours.  Normal flow for our meetings:

Announcements

new business

"Show what ya' brung"*

technique demonstration ("demo")

raffle drawing

* "Show what ya' brung" or in proper English, "display the model project that you are currently working on" is the part of the meeting where members show off their projects, complete, in progress, or still in the box and discuss techniques, ask for suggestions, and generally help members share and improve their modeling skills.
