The IPMS Prison City Modelers are located in Leavenworth, the first city of Kansas. Founded in July 1996, we became an IPMS chapter in 2010. We meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 P.M. at the Leavenworth Public Library.
The chapter is made up of modelers of all building interest, skill levels and ages. Please join us for a meeting, and bring whatever project you are working on.
Club Officers:
President: Ron Reynolds. A retired Marine, Ron is well known in the Kansas City and Mid-West modelling community, working mostly in aircraft.
Vice President: Shane Curtis. Shane tackles aircraft and armor models.
Treasurer: James (JW) Dirske. JW builds a little bit of everything, but tends to focus on World War II aircraft.
Secretary (and webmaster): Mark Gerges. Mark is an armor modeler, building AFVs from World War I to Desert Storm. He also does figures (54mm) and some small scale dioramas.
Newsletter Editor and Graphic Arts Wizard: Gary Ruhnke. The job describtion pretty much says it all, and Gary models 1:48th scale armor.
Chapter meetings generally run two hours. We try to limit the business part to an half hour, and then a member presents a demo of some modeling technique or product. Afterwards, the remainder of the time is taken up with our “Show What Ya’ Brung” where club members discuss what models they brought to show the group.
The chapter hosts an IPMS approved contest each fall, normally the last Saturday in September. This years contest is 22 September 2012, and information can be found on the contest page.
